Students discover, develop, and critically analyze ideas in public discourse through research, reasoning, organization, composition, delivery to a live audience and evaluation of various types of speeches, including informative and persuasive speeches., , Introduction to the analysis, theory, and history of rhetoric and public address; application of principles of public address to the preparation and delivery of public speeches.

• Description: The study and practice of argumentation and persuasion. Review of modern and historical persuasive speech in a variety of contexts and cultures. Analysis of rhetorical theory and application of methods of effective persuasion. Knowledge of the structure and format of various types of argumentation. Participation in speech activities.
